Really Saying Something

'I'd only been once before tonight, and that was about six months ago. That was easily one of the best nights I've ever had, and this time it was almost as good. As far as indie clubs go, this one is a league apart. The invitation-only idea keeps the same people coming back, the music is diverse and eclectic, and the atmosphere is incredibly friendly. I almost don't want to spread the word, because it's so great already, but you really need to try this place if you're tired of the Mean Fiddler, the Metro, and all the other copycat venues running the same kind of indie nights.'

'Went to this month's Buttoned Down Disco last night, which is a really great night out in London. I love it for two main reasons: firstly, the music is great. They play an eclectic mix all smoothly mixed by the competent DJ. The second reason is the atmosphere: it's very relaxed and uncompetitive. There is no perceptible attitude of competition or confrontation in the place at all. It's just about having fun, which is, in my limited experience, rare in London clubs. Those two factors combine to mean that when I get there, I can just lose myself in the music (yes, that was a sickeningly cheesy sentence, but it's true), something which I've never really been able to do before in clubs.'

'When I arrived there were people breakdancing in the street outside, and there were so many people inside that it was pretty hard to get in. And it was like a sauna. A throbbing sauna of funky flesh (in a good way). Fantastic music, and as always 'Mr Blue Sky' had me hopping around like some sort of mad eejit. Really good blend of dancey and rocky stuff, and great mixing skills from Dollyrocker. Great crowd too, good mix of people, and it was refreshing to be in the Asylum without talking about bootlegs for half the night. Buttoned Down Disco will be the greatest weekly night in London - f*cking brilliant, I know I'll be there every week if I can.'

'Buttoned Down Disco rocks my socks!! I wish I did live in London just so I could go to this clubnight ever week! It's so much fun, the music is excellent, the venue they've been in for the last few weeks has been amazing! And the beer comes in cool shaped bottles! What more can you ask for! Went on Saturday night, and went two Saturdays ago as well, and both nights were amazing! Its a kinda "same old faces" kinda place, as people we spent the evening with on Saturday had been there two Saturdays ago, and it was cool meeting them again, and getting to know some peeps a little better.'

'The boat party was AMAZING!!! Honestly one of the best parties I have been to in London: lots of great people, the boat was nicely filled, cozy and really beautiful and the music was of course so cool! Only downpoint of the night was that just after midnight I discovered I had lost my Oyster Card, with my credit card and national ID in it!!! My friends and I freaked out! Looked for it everywhere (and lots of strangers helped us in the search!) and finally.... found it at the bar! A super kind soul had found it and the barman gladly returned to me! Happy ending of a great night! .'

'I hadn't been before but was there on Friday night and I thought it was cool. I've been into "indie" since about 1990 when it was called indie and I've been to quite a few indie clubs in London and Brighton and yours definitely measures up. I really liked your mixing, lots of DJ's seem to think that pop/rock songs don't deserve proper mixing and just kind of crash songs into each other but you actually mixed stuff well and it was interesting and fun. I liked the 'Common People' dancefloor and it was a no hassles crowd. So well done, I'm definitely coming back.'

'Hi there, I attended my first buttoned down disco on Saturday past (29 Jan 05) with a group of friends and must say what a brilliant night I had, I just could not stop dancing from the minute I arrived until the minute I left, WOW! The music and atmosphere was superb, it was fun to dance to music from Mary Poppins and Bugsy Malone and is the first time I've heard them played at any club. Sadly I don't get up to London too often as I live on the Isle of Wight and of course have family ties, but certainly hope to show my face at another one of your parties when the opportunity arises.'

'Was a blinding night, the club is the best venue I've seen BDD in, the dancefloor was amazing! Plus the 2-4-1 drink deal before 11 meant we were soo p*ssed after downing 4 vodka cokes each (plus copius beer for me). Wicked set list as well, BDD has now overtaken Stay Beautiful as the club with the best music in London. Songs that stick out in my mind were Babyshambles, Lush - Single Girl, Faster (crazy choice!), Happy Days (genius!). Swear we couldn't leave the dancefloor for about an hour.'

'Buttoned Down Disco normally throw down a pretty strong party vibe, if you haven’t been to one how about you stop your Cat Stevens LP for a second and slap yourself in the face. Get their little badge and you get in for free before 10 - nuff said. They may be rocking an invite only vibe - you just need to join and print the e-mail, not too much stress considering that if you’re reading this you’re already halfway there.'

'I LOVE BDDs! They are fantastic and I couldn't thank you more for organising fantastic discos week on week. Although I loved Infinity, I am liking the change in venue each week. 'I've been a few times and it has an amazing atmosphere, probably due to the fact that everyone there WANTS to be there (it's invite only and you have to be on their mailing list to get in, so no drunken "let's check this out" people stumbling in). The music is quite eclectic and just plain fun, I don't know anywhere else you will hear the Ramones, Sleater Kinney, Shampoo, Kim Wilde, The Cure and Elvis in one night...'

'Dollyrocker is an amazing dj, hehehe he plays anything and everything, and a good time is to be had by all, regardless of your music tastes. Indie, rock, disco, pop and funk gets played between the two levels of the club. Downstairs, Dollyrockers kick-ass bro playes mash-ups, and a more kinda ethnicy mix of music which kicks ass... and I've even heard him play the occasional show-tune!'

'Buttoned Down Disco is SO F*CKING GOOD! The people, the music, the venue's just right, the barstaff are cool, I also particularly enjoyed having a rave dancing comptetion with a girl upstairs when it was kind of emptying out a bit. When I go to BDD I wake up the next day feeling like I've run a marathon because I can't help but dance ALL NIGHT LONG. I think I love it.'

'I LOVE BUTTONED DOWN DISCO!!!!! Even though I always end up dancing like a complete 'tard and going all red in the face, the music is just fabulous!! Last Saturday, it took us 30 mins to walk from Oxford Circus to Tottenham Court Road because we had done so much dancing. But it was so worth it. I love Buttoned Down Disco. Did I say that already?'

'Ah, Buttoned Down Disco is cool! I've been a couple of times, generally people there are so lovely and no attitude like at most clubs in London. You can dress up as much or as little as possible. The music is cool, electro-indie-disco kind of stuff, some 80s... The best time was at Christmas when they gave away mince pies, quality street and lucky dip toys. '
