What is Buttoned Down Liveshow about?

Buttoned Down Liveshow is a spin off from Buttoned Down Disco and focuses on exposing up and coming live acts and new music in general. Previous acts showcased include Goose, Dragonette, Man Like Me, Get Shakes, Partyshank, Shlomo, XX Teens, Soho Dolls, Nobra, Go Kart Mozart and They Came From The Stars, I Saw Them.

Buttoned Down Liveshow held monthly showcases throughout 2007, mostly at 93 Feet East in Brick Lane. See a list of who played for us below. Now we have a HUGE liveshow planned at the Astoria 2 on Friday 20th June - so mark your diaries!

When is the next Buttoned Down Liveshow?

Our next liveshow is on Friday 20th June 2008 - so mark that date! Taking over the whole of Astoria 2, the huge historic venue bang in the centre of town, we're bringing you two ace bands to make you dance.

First up we are showcasing Capitol K, who has been making lovely experimental electronic pop for a few years now, winning the hearts of the press and now with a new single Libertania out on Monday 23rd June, his early show at 10.00pm is perfectly timed.

At 11.00pm we welcome dancefloor kicking new trio OK Tokyo, for a rocking party set! Three pretty London boys making up the rules from within, OK Tokyo have already had good reviews in the likes of NME and The Fly this year and have been remixed by Does It Offend You, Yeah? This is their last major London show before they jet off for a summer residency at Ibiza Rocks, so catch them before they explode.

Headlining with a new show at midnight, we are very excited to be rejoined by the UK's No.1 Beatboxer wizard - Shlomo! Since we first showcased Shlomo at our first ever liveshow two years ago, he has re-invented his set time and time again, wowed crowds at his residency at Queen Elizabeth Hall, and is using this as a chance to warm up his voice before playing to 20,000 people at Glastonbury at the end of June. When Shlomo last played for us, the crowd were going absolutely nuts, and this is going to be more of the same, but louder, and for longer! Don't miss!

DJing wise, club founder and infamous resident Dollyrocker will be belting out indie and electro in the main room, right up until 4am! If you haven't been to Buttoned Down and danced yourself silly before, you probably need to more than ever. In the second room, we welcome hot London clubnight Best Laid Plans to bring themselves and their DJ mates Vincent Oliver (Loaf Records), Fade In Fade Out, Mister Lopez plus hot new band We Smoke Fags (DJ set) to create dancefloor mayhem!

Where is Buttoned Down Liveshow?

Buttoned Down Liveshow takes place at Astoria 2, located right in the middle of town, the full address is 165 Charing Cross Road London WC2 0EN. Entry for mailing list members (with a printed eflyer) is FREE before 10pm, then £7 all night. Otherwise entry is £10 on the door, so make sure you request invites to save money.

	The Priscillas with The Duloks, Look Look (Dancing Boys) & The Schla La Las Photo Gallery	A female only 'Girls Rock' special showcasing an excellent array of all girl bands and DJ's. Headliners The Priscillas are pictured rocking the Main Hall to a packed crowd!
	Dragonette with Cassette & Lo Slung Photo Gallery	Canadian popsters brought their ace tunes to us for an intimate clubshow and created a cool buzz around them. Electro pop support from another two up and coming bands.
	The Count with So So Modern, Personal Space Invaders & The Patty Winters Show Photo Gallery	Noisy headliners re-invent Punk just for Buttoned Down Liveshow. Even Pete Voss wore ear protectors! Ace support from So So Modern, Personal Space Invaders and Patty Winters Show.
	Shlomo & the Vocal Orchestra with MC Zani & They Live Photo Gallery	Shlomo made his return to Buttoned Down, this time bringing another seven human beatboxers on the stage alongside the legendary Swingle Singers, and conducted his very own human orchestra! Completely unique.
	Goose with R3mote & Bee Stings Photo Gallery	Goose completely rocked Buttoned Down Liveshow with a highly original collage of kick-ass synth sounds with live drums. Support came from dark electro trio R3mote plus excellent melodic pop from London's Bee Stings.
	Coco Electrik with Phenol & Nobra Photo Gallery	Coco Electrik played an intense show of electro rock anthems, with Phenol bringing excellent melodic pop in support. Nobra was exactly that, but with deadpan humoured experimental backing in the shape of, um, an iPod!
	They Came From The Stars (I Saw Them) Photo Gallery	Hot on the heels of a TimeOut feature declaring them London's answer to Sun Ra, the band played a beautiful show combining Christmas outfits and giant snowflakes with electronic wizardly, a live harp player and dancers!
	Xerox Teens with Chik Budo Photo Gallery	Chik Budo took indie theory but ditched the guitars in favour of two saxophone players! A highly original and danceable set. Xerox Teens set was so danceable though, that it actually prompted a neu-rave stage invasion! Fun.
	Kish Mauve with Scarlet Soho Photo Gallery	Kish Mauve had previously impressed crowd at Bestival and Glastonbury with their stylish take on electro pop, including an ace cover of The Passions. Scarlet Soho brought an excellent set of darker electro rock.
	Schmoof Photo Gallery	Armed with matching rubber suits and Roland SH101's, Schmoof had narrowly escaped fame and yet found themselves on the front page of Metro following their 'Chocolate Boyfriend' single last September.

	Go Kart Mozart Photo Gallery	Fronted by the legendary Lawrence from Felt / Denim, this show had them playing only their fifth ever gig. Drawing fans from as far afield as Leeds and Manchester for the one night, their show was amazingly atmospheric.
	Shlomo Photo Gallery	Having already dazzled audiences at Royal Festival Hall and Later With Jools Holland, Shlomo steps up to the mike for 20 minutes of furious beatboxing. Our first ever live act, and the crowd was screaming for more!
